The greatest gift, what you can give to your child, one that strengthens it for his or her life, is basic trust. Nothing can influence the life of a small person as strongly as basic trust, ..

You can give your child this basic trust, by being there for it from the moment of its birth, without restrictions. It is the basis for self-confidence, self-esteem and emotional intelligence.

Your child needs the feeling, that you are there, paying attention to him / her and help. The little child cannot do anything alone. It is totally dependent on you and you are his / her world.

Create basic trust

How do you build this trust?? By making yourself aware, that this tiny person, this part of you, is totally dependent on your behavior towards him. Babies don't do anything on purpose. As a toddler, you cannot put anything into context.

I know, that many people are annoyed, when I pay full attention to my son, even when I'm trying to have a conversation. He just can't understand , why his need shouldn't be important now, when it is otherwise.

Young children have no sense of time. A minute, one hour, they cannot assess it. If you do not respond to his / her needs for only a short time, your child doesn't understand that.

A baby cannot understand, if you want to teach him / her, that it sometimes has to wait. It only notices, that his / her needs are not being met, be it hunger, a full diaper or crying out for attention.

This frightens and unsettles the child, because it cannot understand the connections and feels abandoned.

So basic trust is the most important thing, that you can convey to your child. The feeling, that you are always there, that it is heard and that you give it all your attention. Physical contact, eye contact and reliability are the most important features here, that you can convey to your little one.

Basic trust

Basic trust- the key to a happy life

The basic trust is formed in the first six months of life. During this time, your child is dependent on your care, attention, food and sleep.

And, let's be honest, six months of undivided attention can seem long, but are in relation to that, how positive this affects the development of your child, a comparatively little effort.

I understand parents of a screaming child, that are always close to , lose their nerves. It must be an incredibly stressful time, which costs a lot of nerves and brings great tension. For all.

I was very lucky, because my son rarely screamed, but if he screamed longer, than usual, I was close to a nervous breakdown. How must it be?, when the little person just doesn't stop?

Luckily, and you hardly realize that in time, there is an end to this phase.

We ran to our little one with every little beep and he could always fully rely on, that we are there for him. Maybe that's why he screamed so rarely and is now, at the age of four, an amazingly cooperative child . Urvertrauen kann das bewirken.

It can also be, that the babys stomach ache, it has a colic or other pain. And it definitely helps in this case too, when his / her parents are with him / her and take care of it.

Here in this PDF you will find a PowerPoint presentation, in which the subjects “Consequences of neglect” and “trust” are concise and simply described: https://www.psychologie.uni-heidelberg.de/ae/entw/inhalt/Vertrauen-Studium%20Generale.pdf

This time lasts, as I said, not forever, because children grow up really quickly. Time flies and they become more and more independent.

Just be a mother in the first year, fully. This is how you lay the foundation for a fulfilling life for your child.

Promote your child - don't challenge it!

There are different forms of intelligence, that we can convey to our children. I present them all in this list, but only wants to deal with emotional intelligence, because as parents we can really act as role models here.

Basic trust

Forms of intelligence

Visual intelligence: is the power of imagination, of fantasy.

Emotional intelligence: Art, Recognizing feelings in yourself and others and responding to them.

Logical intelligence: The gift, to put things in context.

Verbal intelligence: The linguistic talent, to convince or sweep other people away.

Creative intelligence: ., these people are characterized by creativity, imagination and innovation.

Physical intelligence: Mastery of your own body

Emotionale Intelligenz ist deshalb so wichtig, that it is not just out of empathy, there is compassion and trust, but through this makes it possible for a human being, to understand his environment and act accordingly. Den Grundstein dafür kann das Urvertrauen sein.

Basic trust

Emotional intelligence and trust

Promote your child's trust, first of all, of course, the trust it has in you!

Always do, what you promised! That's how I handle it in our family. And when it threatens, to fail? I set heaven and earth in motion, so as not to disappoint my son. Not even with small things! He knows, that he can rely on everything I say, ., ..

This is very important to me, because to disappoint a child again and again, cannot have good consequences. And usually you don't promise heaven and earth, but more little things.

The key is, that my son can be sure, when I tell him something, that it will happen. He can rely on my words without fear of disappointment. That makes him a very balanced child, that also understands, if he doesn't get something. And he learns to trust.

Compassion through basic trust

What is irreplaceable for me when dealing with other people, is compassion. What a wonderful quality, that makes understanding and working together so much easier!

We were recently on the subway. A man was sitting on the middle level, who is homeless and held a mug in his hand. When my son saw him, he said immediately:” I think, the man needs some money. Let's give him something?” I already had the euro in my hand and my son gave it to the man.

My heart was filled with gratitude at that moment, that my child cares about other people, who he doesn't know , worries and has no fear of contact. Whenever we take the subway, I give people something, who ask me for it. Even if I don't explain, what I do and why, my son understands , what is up. For me, that means emotional intelligence!

Basic trust

What creates basic trust?

The formed basic trust , that you give your child the greatest gift on his way through life, has so many faces: Your child experiences and gives gratitude and respect. It learns, to be caring, to give and receive closeness.

It will be easier in his / her later life, because your positive behavior can make your child confident. Your child will be more likely be able to, to build a positive self-esteem and social skills and thus be equipped with the tools, to live a self-determined, to live a contented life.

When your child gets older, it is of course also important, to show limits. If these are disregarded, it's necessary, that the child bears the consequences, because that's how it learns, to take responsibility for , what it does, .. An important step!

Of course I don't mean draconian punishments or any punishments at all. It is best to discuss this beforehand, what possible consequences can be. So the child is involved and knows, what will happen. So it doesn't appear as much as a punishment and your child is more likely to be willing, to respect the limits set.

Whatever education looks like to you, do it as you see fit! Don't let anyone tell you anything and just give your child love, closeness, trust and respect. You will get it back.

I wish you and your family, big or small, all the best and lots of time and joy together. You can't take a moment back, so enjoy every one of them!

Warmest regards
